Why the DJI Osmo 360 stands out

The Osmo 360 combines native 8K 360° recording with a compact 183 g body. DJI also gives it up to 120 MP panoramic photo capture, 105 GB of usable built-in storage, a magnetic quick-release system and direct connection support for compatible DJI microphones. For travel and action creators, the appeal is simple: capture the whole scene first, then decide how to frame the moment later.

A creator-first 360° toolkit

Native 8K panoramic video is the headline feature, while the single-lens Boost Video mode can capture a 170° field of view at up to 4K/120 fps. The camera also supports 10-bit color and D-Log M, which gives creators more flexibility when grading footage.

DJI's magnetic quick-release design works with compatible Osmo accessories, while a standard 1/4-inch thread broadens mounting options. Direct OsmoAudio connectivity supports compatible DJI microphone transmitters and can reduce extra audio hardware; compatibility varies by microphone model.

Best suited to active creators

The Osmo 360 makes the most sense for travel, action, outdoor and social creators who value the freedom to capture an entire scene and choose the final viewpoint afterward.

It can also work as a conventional wide-angle action camera, but buyers who only want straightforward point-and-shoot video may not need the extra editing workflow that comes with 360° footage.

Useful details beyond the headline specs

Battery life depends on settings and conditions

DJI's 100-minute figure for continuous 8K/30 fps recording was measured at 25°C with the screen and several wireless and smart features disabled. Real-world runtime can be lower.

Storage is unusually generous

The camera includes 128 GB of internal storage, with 105 GB available for use, and it can be expanded with a compatible microSD card.

Waterproof, with an important caveat

DJI rates the camera body IP68 and suitable for depths up to 10 m when all covers are securely closed. Underwater refraction can cause distortion and stitching errors, and optional lens protectors are not designed for underwater use.

The lenses are not user-replaceable

The camera's integrated lenses cannot be replaced by the user. That makes appropriate protection especially important for action and travel use.

DJI Mimo is part of the workflow

Initial activation uses the DJI Mimo app. The app also supports camera control, firmware updates, transfers and mobile editing, so phone compatibility should be checked before purchase.

Heat and stitching distance matter

Demanding 8K modes can raise the camera's temperature. DJI also recommends keeping important subjects at least 0.75 m away to reduce visible stitching errors between the lenses.

A feature-rich 360° camera for creators willing to edit

Based on DJI's published specifications, the Osmo 360 combines native 8K panoramic recording, high-resolution stills, substantial built-in storage and a compact 183 g body. Its main advantage is the freedom to capture a complete scene and choose the final framing afterward. That flexibility also creates a more involved editing workflow than a conventional action camera.
